Commission Rate
You earn a 30% monthly recurring commission for any customer who subscribed to any of the paid plans on ConvertKit through your affiliate link. Provided the customer continues to be active on the platform by renewing his/her monthly subscription.
No cap on the amount you can earn as commission. Rather ConvertKit has an affiliate calculator that tells you how much you can earn with the number of customers you refer to them via your affiliate link.
For example, if you refer one customer who subscribed to the paid plan and continues to be active on the service, you earn $8.70.
You can slide the calculator to see how much you can earn with a certain number of referred accounts.
ConvertKit pays you more when you refer to them accounts with higher email lists.
However, the commission rate of ConvertKit is low compared to GetResponse commission rate.
The latter pays 33% as commission for its monthly recurring affiliate program and a one-time $100 for its affiliate bounty program.
Payment Options
GetResponse affiliate program has an advantage here over ConvertKit. While ConvertKit has PayPal as its only payment option, GetResponse pays affiliate commission via USD check, ACH, Euro transfer, or even a payment method you agreed with them.
ConvertKit doesn’t allow you to use someone else’s PayPal email to receive payment. Your PayPal email must match the email address you used when you signed up for the program.
This simply means that affiliate marketers who live in locations where PayPal isn’t supported can’t participate in this program.
ConvertKit isn’t the only affiliate program in the email marketing niche that pays affiliates via PayPal. Activecampaign too has PayPal as its only payment option.
Payment Threshold
For some affiliate programs, the commission you have earned must reach a certain amount before you can be paid.
That’s what the payment threshold is all about. Fortunately, ConvertKit has no payment threshold although it uses to have before now.
Once a commission is approved you can withdraw it directly to your PayPal. This will be cheering news to affiliates who frown at payment thresholds and wish they can withdraw their earned commission as they come.
But this is not so with Activecampaign and GetResponse which have payment thresholds of $100 and $50 respectively.
Cookie Duration
ConvertKit has a cookie duration of 90 days. This is simply the period during which a customer can make use of your affiliate link to subscribe to any of the paid plans on Convertkit for the commission to be credited to you.
Provided the cookie isn’t deleted. It is an advantage to have an affiliate program with a longer cookie duration.
It gives more time for your affiliate links to convert to sales and for the commission to accrue to you. ConvertKit has a fair cookie duration but GetResponse is better with 120 days cookie duration.
Affiliate Terms
As an affiliate on ConvertKit, there are affiliate terms and agreement you need to keep to. Already you agreed to these terms when you signed up for the affiliate program.
It is important you keep these terms in mind while you promote this email marketing software.
This is necessary to ensure that your affiliate account isn’t suspended on account of you violating any of these terms.
Plus to make sure the commission you earned is paid to you without hitches. Some affiliates who sign up for affiliate programs don’t take time to read and understand the affiliate terms.
This hurts them in the long run since they aren’t fully aware of the does and don’t of the program. I suggest you take your time to read the affiliate terms of any affiliate program you plan to join.
If possible get a legal practitioner to interpret it for you if it’s ambiguous to you.
Ways to promote your ConvertKit affiliate link
Now you have known how to sign up for ConvertKit affiliate program and other key factors that matter, let’s look at how you can promote your affiliate links.
For you to earn a commission, you must promote this software to a target audience who will need it in their businesses. How do you that? By driving traffic to your affiliate link.
Below are popular methods many affiliates use.
1.Email List
If you have built a large email list with an audience who you think will need ConvertKit in their business, nothing stops you from promoting this email marketing tool to them.
Email marketing is of the best ways to promote affiliate links. Why? Because you’re talking to a target audience in a particular niche with who you have built a relationship with.
They are in your inner circle and you communicate and engage them frequently. You can start building an email list with email marketing platforms like GetResponse, Activecampaign, or even ConvertKit.
2.Social Media Influencer
Social media influencers these days command a lot of followers on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
If you’re one of them in a niche that your followers will need email marketing tools like ConvertKit, you can highlight the benefits of this software to them in your posts.
Yes, it can be tedious work to manage your social media platforms as an influencer. But you can hire a VA to help with this or automate it with social media management tools.
3.Blog Posts
You can start a blog and publish blog posts on email marketing platforms like ConvertKit. This is the most popular method many affiliate marketers use including me.
Here is an article where I compared ConvertKit and GetResponse. The aim here is to highlight the features of both while allowing the audience to make a choice.
If they decide to go for any and use my affiliate link in the article to subscribe to the paid plan of either GetResponse or ConvertKit, I earn a commission.
Bear in mind that this process takes time and patience as you have to grow the traffic of your blog to a reasonable number.
4.YouTube Video
Video content is in high demand and YouTube is the second biggest search engine globally. Video creators on YouTube make money from their YouTube videos through affiliate marketing.
They promote their affiliate links in their video descriptions. You can start a YouTube channel for free, create and upload videos on ConvertKit.
Then add your affiliate link in the video description. A typical example of videos on YouTube that work for software like ConvertKit is a review video.
You can review ConvertKit or even teach your audience how to launch email campaigns, design landing pages, and automate emails on ConvertKit.
Alternatives to ConvertKit Affiliate Program

It has flexible payment options, unlike ConvertKit that pays only via PayPal. As an affiliate on GetResponse, you can receive your commission through USD check, ACH, Euro transfer.
